IT’S ELECTION SEASON AGAIN! This is one of the years that tends to get less attention but there are a lot of important things happening at the local level! Those measures often have more direct impacts on our lives than the national elections. Be sure to tune in and vote this coming November 7th!
As we’ve done for the last several years, we are giving away FREE PRINTS to anyone who promotes civic engagement. And this year we’ve got a special project. Inspired by Taylor Swift’s very admirable, massive efforts to mobilize a generation, My good friend and employee Attie Schuler (who is also a serious Taylor Swift fan) had a fantastic idea! Here’s what she has to say about it:
“As someone who grew up listening to Taylor Swift’s music since girlhood, It’s been fun to watch her music evolve and change over the years. And, as Taylor and her music evolved, so did her stance on societal and political commentary. In 2018, leading up to midterm votes, she posted a public statement on her Instagram saying, “Please, please educate yourself on the candidates … and vote based on who most closely represents your values.” This led to a suspected 100,000 new young-voter registrations!
She has continued to have a massive impact on the young voters in the United States with her superstar platform in the form of social media campaigns, acceptance speeches, and documentaries.
One day at work recently, Ravi asked me if I had heard that T-Swift’s recent voting registration post prompted an estimated 30,000 new voter registrations…in a single day. I, of course, had heard this, the fan that I am. And wow, how amazing!
At the same time, Ravi was preparing to design and create new prints for his annual “Vote” promo, where he gifts free art to anyone who shares on Instagram that they had voted or if they promoted civic engagement. Inspired by Taylor Swift’s efforts, we brainstormed up these new designs…
And, if you know Taylor swift’s music, you more than likely know her high-profile cats. We think it’s safe to say that this trio would probably want you to vote too!
