The snow in this screen print is achieved by screen printing the sky and objects with portions missing to leave paper. It creates an illusion that the white snow in on top but it is actually the bottom most element in the media. The first time I saw this method used to create snow was on a print by a Denver designer and screen printer named John Vogl (who has since moved to another city). He made a snow cat vehicle using yellow and black peeking out from under a blanket of several inches and the implied background of fresh snow was only blank paper. It was almost as magical as an actual blanket of undisturbed snow.
